Twitter reports: Edmonton Indy shortened to 80 laps

Today’s Edmonton Indy was set for 90 laps, but Twitter reports from one IZOD IndyCar Series team and Indianapolis Star reporter Curt Cavin is saying that the race will cut down to 80 laps. The green flag is set for 2:52 p.m. ET, with TV coverage starting at 2 p.m. ET on Versus.

HVM Racing first reported the apparent change on its Twitter account, then stated that the change is due to TV broadcast time allowance. Meanwhile, Cavin tweeted this morning that laps around the new Edmonton track layout have been taking longer than expected, hence the drop to 80 laps.

For what it’s worth, INDYCAR has yet to officially announce that the race is down to 80 laps…We’ll keep an eye on things…
