Testing action moves back to Barber

As a result of the oval Open Test at Texas Motor Speedway being moved back to early May, the IZOD IndyCar Series had a date open up for final preparation going into the March 25 season opener at St. Petersburg.

Most drivers and teams will take advantage of it tomorrow and Wednesday, as Barber Motorsports Park plays host to a second Open Test session before St. Pete. Unlike last week at Sebring, the competitors will not be split into two groups based on dates.

Here is who’s expected to be at Barber over the next two days, according to the series:

CHEVROLET
Team Penske (2-Ryan Briscoe, 3-Helio Castroneves, 12-Will Power)
Panther Racing (4-J.R. Hildebrand)
KV Racing Technology (5-E.J. Viso, 8-Rubens Barrichello, 11-Tony Kanaan)
Ed Carpenter Racing (20-Ed Carpenter)
Andretti Autosport (26-Marco Andretti, 27-James Hinchcliffe, 28-Ryan Hunter-Reay)

HONDA
Dale Coyne Racing (18-Justin Wilson, 19-James Jakes)
Chip Ganassi Racing (38-Graham Rahal, 83-Charlie Kimball — tomorrow only)
Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing (67-Josef Newgarden)

The series also reports that the Target Chip Ganassi Racing tandem of Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon will test Wednesday on the road course at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Interestingly enough, there are no Lotus teams scheduled to test at Barber.
