Will Power of Team Penske paced this morning’s final warmup for today’s Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, which is slated for a 3:45 p.m. ET green flag. Power, the pole sitter for today’s race, lead the time charts with a lap of 71.5256 seconds in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car.
Raphael Matos will have a long day ahead of him in the No. 2 HP/Luczo Dragon + de Ferran Motorsports machine, as he’s starting 18th on the grid. But it appears that the problems he encountered in qualifying have been solved. Matos was second-quickest this morning with a lap of 71.8257 seconds.
Helio Castroneves (starting third) will try to stop his teammate Power from going three-for-three on the season this afternoon. His lap of 72.1427 seconds in the No. 3 Team Penske special was good for P3 in the warmup. Marco Andretti of Andretti Autosport was fourth-fastest (72.1601 seconds) and Dreyer and Reinbold Racing’s Mike Conway completed the top five (72.2123 seconds).
Today’s race is set for 90 laps. TV and radio coverage will begin at 3 p.m. ET on Versus, IndyCar.com, IMS Radio Network stations, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio (Sirius Ch. 211, XM Ch. 145).
