On the road again…

I’m currently at a hotel outside Wheeling, W. Va., but that’ll change in a half-hour when I hit I-70 again and drive into Indianapolis for this weekend. As ya’ll know, I’ll be covering the Indy 500 for FoxSports.com, but you can expect plenty of goodies here on IRR.

Hopefully, I’ll get into Indy today around midday, re-charge for a bit at a relative’s house that I’m staying at, then head out to Union Jack’s in Speedway for the May Indy Tweetup welcome party. If you wanna meet up with some great IndyCar fans, come on down — and don’t forget to check out the other MIT events that Monica “@theracegIRL” Hilton and Elizabeth “@happyfish103” Lenzi have cooked up for Race Week. Just remember to get that wristband!

Anyway, here are a couple of stories for you before I head out the door and back on the road…

Dean McNulty of The Toronto Sun gets all the details from Paul Tracy on what went into the decision to withdraw his 32nd-place speed in the final moments of Bump Day. You know how that turned out, but PT’s comments are worth reading.

Terry Blount of ESPN.com writes up on whether IndyCar drivers would be willing to do the Indy 500/Coke 600 double for a $20 million prize to the winner of both races. Gotta like Tomas Scheckter’s enthusiasm: “I’d do it for free,” he says in the piece.

Finally, Anthony Schoettle of the Indianapolis Business Journal says we should be bracing for a wave of changes to the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
