Set to return for Chicago, Kentucky and Homestead rounds
Ed Carpenter, along with Indianapolis 500 backer Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka, will be back for three IZOD IndyCar Series events later this season.
Former Masters champ Fuzzy Zoeller — the Fuzzy in Fuzzy’s Vodka — revealed the plans in an interview with Chris Hagan (WXIN-TV, Indianapolis) while playing in a charity event at Brickyard Crossing. You can check out the video on IndySportsNation.com.
According to Zoeller, Carpenter will drive at the Peak Indy 300 on Aug. 28 at Chicagoland Speedway, the Kentucky Indy 300 on Sept. 4 at Kentucky Speedway, and the season-ending Miami Indy 300 on Oct. 2 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Carpenter and Vision Racing were last seen at the ‘500’ this past May as part of a collaboration with Panther Racing. He finished 17th in the No. 20 machine.
Apparently responding to ‘shoutouts,’ Carpenter has announced on Twitter that a more formal announcement would be coming soon.
Good bit of news to start off the morning, no doubt. A lot of fans will be expecting him to emerge as a dark horse for these three events — especially at Kentucky, where he engaged Ryan Briscoe in a thrilling wheel-to-wheel duel last year but came out second by just a few feet.
We’ll see how it goes when the summer winds down…
