Tag talks about postponement

FAZZT Race Team driver Alex Tagliani will be starting eighth in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, which has been moved to tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. ET due to today’s inclement weather conditions in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete region. Here are his comments on the turn of events:

“Well, it is always disappointing to not get to race — not just for the teams, but especially for the fans. They came here for a great street course event expecting beautiful weather and now, all this rain. Unfortunately, racing on Monday is never the same as racing on Sunday, but I’m sure we will be prepared and ready to race tomorrow.

“Our car was ready to race in tough conditions, so we’ll wait and see what the forecast is for tomorrow and make our last-minute decisions based on things tomorrow.”

The weather forecast for St. Petersburg has rain continuing all night long and then tapering off gradually by race time. The ABC-TV cameras showed that standing water was everywhere this afternoon on the 1.8-mile temporary street course, so if track workers can deal with that successfully in the early morning hours, the race could start on schedule.
