Autosport: Lotus to make 2012 aero package

Ever since their beloved green-and-yellow livery emerged in the IZOD IndyCar Series with Takuma Sato and KV Racing Technology, folks have been wondering what kind of plans Lotus have for their involvement in the sport.

As of now, the famous marque has been giving financial and technical support to KV. But their role is set to get bigger when the next-generation IndyCars hit the track in 2012.

Autosport is reporting that Lotus will create an aerodynamic package for the new machines, which combines a rolling chassis from Dallara with aero kits that can be made by other manufacturers. According to the brief online blurb from the magazine, Lotus will take advantage of a rule that gives teams the chance to develop their own kit.

So if we can count on Dallara putting out a kit of their own, then it appears the series has a second kit-maker for 2012.
