Brickyard adds new PR, marketing execs

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced today the hiring of two new executives in marketing and public relations. Mark Dill, who has worked with Nortel Networks and Blue Cross Blue Shield among other companies, is the Brickyard’s new vice president of marketing and public relations, while ex-Red Bull marketing manager James Newton has been named director of marketing.

Dill is also a published author on auto racing, with more than 30 stories to his credit that were written for IMS. He runs FirstSuperSpeedway.com, a web site that serves as a historical archive of primary research on the sport’s early years, specifically the pre-1920 era. As for Newton, he worked for Red Bull North America as a field marketing and sampling team manager from 2001 to this year and has been heavily involved with Speedway officials since the inception of the track’s MotoGP event, which is sponsored by the popular energy drink.

Considering the notable amount of job cuts that the Speedway made over the offseason, hopefully this is a good sign that we’re seeing important hires again out on 16th and Georgetown.
