In August, the IZOD IndyCar Series championship was Will Power’s to lose. Last Saturday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway, he did just that.
After watching Dario Franchitti hack into his once-commanding points lead in the previous three races, the bottom finally fell out for Power in the season finale. In the end, Franchitti secured his third series title by a mere five points while Power could only watch on pit road after suspension damage knocked him out of the Cafes do Brasil Indy 300.
But while the Team Penske pilot will have all winter to reflect on a championship lost, it doesn’t discount how strong of a season he had. We should be willing to bet that this setback will be all the fuel he needs in mounting another assault next season.
