New tracks include Trois-Rivieres, New Hampshire and Baltimore; Milwaukee back on docket as well
The Firestone Indy Lights appears to have an interesting season on the horizon if their 2011 schedule is an indication.
Six ovals and six road/street courses (five of them being the latter) make up the 12-race campaign, with three of the events serving as FIL debuts and one of them as a return.
FIL will be the headliner at the venerable Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres, which will also feature Star Mazda on the undercard to ensure a strong presence for IndyCar’s “Road to Indy” ladder system.
The Milwaukee Mile is also back on the FIL schedule for 2011 and will have its event in mid-June as a support race for the IZOD IndyCar Series’ Milwaukee 225.
Below is the full schedule — which, by the way, isn’t quite complete yet as the series is still determining an oval site for the season finale. Considering the date (Oct. 15-16) and what this Curt Cavin-penned piece says, I’m thinking that oval to be Las Vegas Motor Speedway. But we’ll see how it works out.
