The IZOD IndyCar Series will hold an announcement on Friday morning at 10 a.m. ET in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Hall of Fame Museum.
IndyCar’s press release on the announcement came with the title: “IZOD IndyCar Series Will Have Manufacturer Competition in 2012”.
The first report of Chevrolet’s alleged return to IndyCar in the 2012 season, written by Autoextremist.com’s Peter DeLorenzo, had GM Racing making an announcement on Friday — but also said that a press conference at IMS “would not be unexpected.” To go with that, SPEED Channel’s Robin Miller is now reporting that a deal between IndyCar and General Motors (Chevy’s parent) is almost complete.
