Lotus confirms new bodywork for 2012

Famous marque returning to KV Racing Tech. in 2011

While most of us were coming up with nicknames for the steel sculpture on top of IndyCar’s new title trophy (my favorite so far is ‘Uni-Psycho‘; props to Matt Archuleta for that one), news broke that Lotus would be returning to KV Racing Technology in 2011.

After a season from hell in which the KV gang (consisting of Lotus-backed driver Takuma Sato, E.J. Viso and Mario Moraes) have been involved in one wreck after another, you’d think Lotus wouldn’t be as keen on working with the team again. But not only are they coming back, they’re going to sponsor two KV machines in 2011. What’s more, they’ll be creating a bodywork package for the next-generation IndyCars, which will debut in 2012 and feature a “safety cell” from Dallara as a foundation for the kits.

I’m assuming that this is the Lotus press release that goes with this story since the quotes match the ones used in the linked piece above. You can go and check it out for yourself.
