Ninety minutes left in Bump Day

With ninety minutes remaining in Bump Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, former IZOD IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan is still not yet in the field for next Sunday’s Indianapolis 500.

The Brazilian has had trouble driving his repaired No. 11T 7-Eleven machine in practice mode, and Versus TV cameras saw TK’s Andretti Autosport garage with the door pulled down — presumably trying to work on the problematic car inside. Qualifications will end at 6 p.m. ET.

Shortly after 4 p.m. ET, the first qualifier in over three hours took a shot at bubble driver Sebastian Saavedra and his average of 223.634 m.p.h. But Jaques Lazier — who replaced A.J. Foyt IV in the No. 41 A.J. Foyt Racing entry — was only able to put together three laps under the 223 range before waving off the attempt, keeping Saavedra in the field for now.

As of 4:30 p.m. ET, the track is back in practice mode, but you can expect that to change shortly. Keep up on the action with updates on my Twitter page. Just click the “T” icon in the Social Media box or point your browser to twitter.com/estradawriting.
