Graham Rahal will stick with Sarah Fisher Racing for a shot at winning the mother of all street races — the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
The young American star and the upstart IZOD IndyCar Series squad originally had a two-race agreement that put Rahal in Fisher’s No. 67 Dollar General machine for St. Petersburg and this weekend’s Indy Grand Prix of Alabama (Sun., 3 p.m. ET, Versus) at Barber Motorsports Park. But after Rahal fetched SFR their first top-ten finish with a ninth-place showing in Florida, the pact will go for at least one more event.
In addition to Dollar General’s support, Direct Supply will also step up to back SFR and Rahal for the Long Beach weekend.
“Graham had been very excited about the potential of putting this together from the start of his time with the team,” said Fisher, who will step back into the cockpit on May 1 for the first oval event of the season at Kansas Speedway. “I am proud of where we have been able to go in such a short period of time. Certainly, the idea of growing a program past the set budget was a difficult task for everyone involved, but knowing Graham will do a great job on and off the track makes every effort worth it.”
“[The Grand Prix of Long Beach] is certainly one of the greatest sporting events, and I am just proud to say that I will be returning again,” said Rahal. “I am very thankful for what Sarah, Direct Supply, and the Dollar General folks have done to extend their program with SFR, and we will be working extremely hard to make them proud.”
