Will Power led a Team Penske sweep of the top three positions in qualifying for tomorrow’s Camping World Grand Prix at the Glen (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC), with Helio Castroneves joining him on the front row and Ryan Briscoe starting right behind in third place.
It’s the eight consecutive pole run for a Penske driver, with Power claiming five of those, followed by Briscoe’s two and Castroneves’ one. It also marks the sixth straight time that a Penske driver has won the pole at Watkins Glen International. However, Team Penske has been unable to win at the legendary New York State road course.
Joining Briscoe on the second row is Dario Franchitti of Target Chip Ganassi Racing, who starts fourth. The third row features former Formula One standout Takuma Sato on the inside and defending Glen champion Justin Wilson on the outside.
More to come later tonight…
