One of the more anticipated events on this year’s IZOD IndyCar Series calendar goes down this weekend, as the inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix takes place through the streets of Charm City’s downtown. And considering how the series’ title fight between Dario Franchitti and last week’s winner, Will Power, has tightened considerably in recent weeks, the new street course and all the unknowns it possesses may play a critical role in the final outcome.
Above is a virtual lap of the new circuit, which features several passing zones and long straightaways. But perhaps the part of the course that jumps out at you is the Turn 5-6-7 complex of rhythm turns. I can already tell that these corners are going to mess up more than one driver this weekend. You’ve also gotta love that hairpin at Turn 3. Expect lots of action there as well.
