Townsend Bell takes over DRR No. 22

American driver to race at Kentucky and Las Vegas season finale

Townsend Bell is back in action. Townsend Bell will take the controls of the No. 22 Dreyer and Reinbold Racing machine for the final two races of the season at Kentucky Speedway on Oct. 2 and Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 16.

Since the No. 22’s regular driver Justin Wilson was injured in a practice incident at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course earlier this summer, Tomas Scheckter (New Hampshire) and Giorgio Pantano (Sonoma, Baltimore, Motegi) have taken turns driving the machine. Now it’ll go to Bell, who finished 26th in a one-off effort at the Indianapolis 500 for Sam Schmidt Motorsports after crashing in the later stages of the race.

Bell has competed in seven IZOD IndyCar Series events for DRR, all of them coming in the 2008 campaign. His best finish came at Richmond that season, an eighth-place result.
